Alfred Jarry (1873 -1907) was a precocious artist, seminal author and rigorous eccentric who constructed cardboard sets and costumes and had his characters exclaim ‘Shite’ on the Paris stage of the 1890s. In the words of the man himself,‘Screw good taste’.
Sin Sin Collective’s new play Jarry Unchained explores the artist’s dilemma of using his own life and even misfortunes as creative fuel. The play celebrates Alfred Jarry’s creative tour de force, and is interwoven with several still fresh and hilarious scenes adapted from his plays UbuRoi, Ubu Cuckolded and Ubu Enchained as well as a pan-genre kaleidoscope of Theatrical and Musical styles which blend Modern Theatre Dance, Improvistaion, Comedy, Animation and Mask into a unified narrative.
Supported by gorgeous original live music and an accomplished cast this is the must see production.
